Content Strategist
A recent
study shows that the majority of businesses now
have the website to strengthen their online presence
and enhance their brand for a product or service
and providing qualified sales leads.
The
website's content strategy dramatically affects
branding.
As
the Web is a digital medium the log files supply
a wealth of data about your visitors and their
actions.
I studied
research and consumer and buyer behavior and I
lectured in these subject s for the Oxford-Brookes
University (UK) Bachelor of Commerce Program
for five years.
When
I relocated to the United states in 1999, I worked
in an Internet company at the height of the dot
com boom. I learned a lot about PR on the Internet
and how a website content strategy affects the
return from the site.
I have
spent the last five years translating my expertise
in creating messages for specific audiences into
usability and effective content on the web. Now
I practice as a website content strategist based
in Pasadena CA..
Good content offers only what your visitors find
important, interesting, or useful —
and you shouldn't have to stretch too hard to
make the content fit one of those definitions.
As a
website content strategist it is my job to find
the keywords or phrases that are getting good
search traffic -to find the viable online market
already searching for your service or product.
Once
I have that data I can base your content on that
word or phrase and draw that traffic to your site,
giving you better visibility in the search engines.
Search
engine optimization is not just about keywords
- it is about content. People visit a website
for the content. Search engine spiders look
for relevant and rich website content.
As a
writer, I get “into the heads” of
my audience and create specifically for them.
I was
invited to speak at the Back on Track America
seminar series put together by Small Business
TV in 2001 to help entrepreneurs in the US get
back on their feet after 9/11.
I spoke
in Palo Alto on the AOL panel and on the Entrepreneur
Magazine panel in Los Angeles.
In February. 2004 I toured Southern
Africa and spoke for the Marketing Federation
of Southern Africa, the PR Institute of Southern
Africa and the IT Initiative.
I conduct
regular seminars with the NYC Fun@One series for
speakers and authors and do teleclasses in website
strategies for PR professionals, hosted by the
Public Relations Society of America.
