TalkToGov.com

The site was originally
designed without
any usability
or research. When
the site launched
the offline/e-mail/radio
publicity campaign
drove thousands
of visitors to
the site. But
they also left
in droves - less
than 20% of the
visitors went
further than the
Home page.
We were asked to
conduct the usability
testing to find
out why people
were interested
enough in the
concept to go
to the site, but
were not clicking
in and using it
when they got
there.
Usability testing
showed -
- The purpose
of the site
was not clear
- The home page was not addressing the major concerns people
had with Congress.
- It did not give them a clear benefit to using the site
- The graphics were hard to understand
- The graphics did not clearly give the message of what the
site was about.
Once the research
and usability
information was
incorporated into
redesign the statistic
reversed! Over
80% of visitors
clicked in and
used the site.
